Your opinion is needed!

The Pennsylvania Environmental Council is looking for volunteers to participate in a focus group study about recreation along the Delaware River. We would like input from those who have experience with boating, kayaking, fishing or sailing, as well as those who have no experience - but may be interested in these activities.

Focus groups will be conducted in Center City Philadelphia on February 2, 2010 and Bala Cynwyd on February 4, 2010. They will last about 1 ½ hours each. If you are interested in participating in one of these groups, please contact Jessica Anderson at 215-592-7020 x101 or email JAnderson@pecpa.org. In order to ensure a mix of participants, you will be screened before being selected.

If you are selected, you will be given a $25 gift card in appreciation of your time. Parking costs for participants driving to Philadelphia will be partially covered (up to $10) by PEC.

PEC is a statewide, non-profit organization that has protected and restored the natural and built environment for 40 years. Our work includes connecting Pennsylvanians to their local recreational opportunities such as trails, parks and waterways.

I just became aware of this site and the organization. I think it is great that we have some offical arm of the government looking out to keep our waters clean and available for boaters. The Delaware river is a fantastic area for recreational boating, but boaters have a hard time getting any government recognition for improvements or maintenance of the Delaware waterway, especially north of Bristol, PA. Dredging is done every other year for the main channel, but tidal coves and contributories are ignored. These vital sources of cleansing tidal waters and safe areas for boating recreation also need the attention of our government for both envirormental and economical reasons. Please spread the word.
